The Persecution of White Middle-Class American Men
This has to stop
The persecution of white middle-class American men has to stop.
And by “stop” I mean misguided “outrage privilege.” I’m not saying discrimination against white men doesn’t exist (it certainly does) and I’m not saying it is ok (it isn’t).
I’m not even saying white men (like myself) shouldn’t be able to complain or address perceived inequities (we should). What I’m saying is that we shouldn’t separate privilege from persecution.
Let’s keep everything squarely in context because context matters.
In this article, I want to discuss some of the different sides of persecution of white middle-class American men — and why certain varieties need to stop.
Disclaimer: This article is not intended to minimize individual suffering.
I don’t support or condone the poor treatment of anyone of any race, gender, class, sexuality, or geography. We can all do better.
Are White Middle-Class American Men Discriminated Against?
While I don’t think it’s possible to generalize the non-existence of white discrimination, it might be interesting to look at some experiential data and quantitative research.
