I was in the same situation for years. I probably should have quit sooner but having some savings or plans In place for the first 6 to 12 months is probably smart. I swallowed my pride and drove Uber and Lyft until I got enough projects, contracts, and revenue from my writing. It was super tough and humbling but I'm a thousand percent happier than I was before. I hope you're able to quit sooner than later and that you enjoy it immensely.
