Yes, people can block ads. However, most people don't.

Even if they do, you can still make money from affiliate sales, sponsorships, and selling your own products and services.

You can even negotiate with companies to get paid for each lead you send them. There are a ton of ways, but display ads are one of the more "passive" strategies.
